Sulfur Recovery Engineering offers many services to assist you in the achieving the optimal operation of your sulfur recovery unit (SRU). Here is a brief outline of our two main services: performance evaluations and optimization and shutdown and start up assistance.
Performance Evaluation and Optimization:
- We can perform a complete analysis of the sulfur plant including the feed streams and all interstage samples where a chemical composition change has occurred. The tests will also include full sampling and analysis of the tail gas unit. Increase compliance while reducing gas plant emissions. - Evaluation of all sulfur plant operations and catalyst activity by the analysis of the process stream samples and the DCS operating data.
- Comprehensive engineering report based on the results of the analysis and recommendations for optimal plant operations.
- Optimization of the plant by implementing changes to the operating conditions of the sulfur plant, retesting and analysing the data, and implementing further changes to the operating conditions of the plant. This achieves optimal performance of the sulfur plant.
Shutdown and Start-up Assistance Provide:
- Safe shutdowns that protect your assets by preventing uncontrolled sulfur fires in the converters, soot formation in the reaction furnace that can plug the first converter, and completely removing the sulfur from the vessels so that they are inspection ready.
- Accurate shutdown processes by regularly sampling and analysing the composition of the reaction furnace outlet gases to ensure that the ratio of fuel to oxygen is correct. This enables us to run the shutdown effectively and quickly.
- Cost effective shutdowns that reduce the shutdown time by maximizing the sweep gas throughput in the plant to reduce shutdown time by as much as 40 percent.
- Fully managed shutdowns where we can run the DCS system control board, freeing up plant personnel for other duties.
- Controlled Start-up of the sulfur plant with the monitoring of the fuel gas warm up to prevent any damage to the reaction furnace main burner and refractory or sooting of the catalyst. Assurance that the transition from fuel gas to acid gas is completed without emission violations.
