SRE Simulation Services

Sulfur Recovery Engineering (SRE) has partnered with Virtual Materials Group (VMG), allowing SRE to use the powerful VMG Sulfur Plant simulation software in-field (VMGSim). Using over 20 years of accumulated SRE sulfur unit data, our team is able to accurately model any given SRU. In conjunction with our field results, the models provide important process values such as Reaction Furnace adiabatic temperature, Converter bed dewpoints, and catalyst activity providing the most up-to-date and accurate performance correlations all within the most flexible SRU modeling tool.

Our field testing engineers use VMGSim to model each plant that we visit and have found it to be a powerful tool for on-site unit optimization. Our engineering reports also include a ‘tuned’ model of the client’s SRU such that they themselves can open and manipulate the variables to track operational trends in their plants. A great tool!

TUNED SRU MODELING

Do you want access to a predictive simulation model of your SRU? What about a model that is tuned to match your SRU’s field performance? See more

DYNAMIC MODELING

How can I get better estimates of SRU performance and identify pinch-points when considering different operating scenarios, such as turndown, and different equipment- either by upgrade or retrofit? Here, a Dynamic Model would be of great benefit. See more

DESIGN CONSULTATION

SRE’s extensive SRU and Amine Unit knowledge base makes us a trusted source in terms of identifying your processing requirements and restrictions. SRE has you covered if you require feedback, suggestions, or a formal design critique. Furthermore, the VMGSim Sulfur Package generates high-fidelity SRU models that are best-in-class. See more

SIMULATION TRAINING

PROCESS SIMULATION SOFTWARE

BEST-IN-CLASS MODELING CAPABILITIES

Sulfur Recovery Engineering (SRE) has partnered with Virtual Materials Group (VMG), allowing SRE to use the powerful VMG Sulfur Plant simulation software in-field (Symmetry). Using over 20 years of accumulated SRE data, our team is able to accurately model any given SRU or Amine Unit. In conjunction with our field results, the models provide important process values such as Reaction Furnace adiabatic temperature, Converter bed dewpoints, catalyst activity, Lean/Rich loading, and Purge/Reflux rates providing the most up-to-date and accurate performance correlations all within the most flexible modeling tool.

Our field testing engineers use Symmetry to model each plant that we visit and have found it to be a powerful tool for on-site unit optimization. Our engineering reports also include a ‘tuned’ model of the client’s SRU or Amine Unit such that they themselves can open and manipulate the variables to track operational trends in their plants. About VMGSIM

VMGSim is used around the world to model existing processes and to design new facilities from the ground up. At the heart of VMGSim is VMGThermo, our thermophysical property calculator capable of accurately predicting the behaviour of complex fluid mixtures. With over 20,000 chemicals, more than 80 thermodynamic property packages, and hundreds of unit operations, VMGSim provides unparalleled model sophistication and precision. VMGSim performs all of the routine calculations to free up your time to tackle processing challenges creatively. The result: you’ll find innovative ways to maximize the value of the end product, while reducing operating costs and wasted material.

Moreover, VMGSim behaves like your own engineering advisor – propagating information, anticipating your questions, and suggesting effective methods for model development and exploration. Better still, VMGSim requires only the smallest amount of information necessary to build your model based on rigorous thermodynamic relationships.

Real-time process calculations- VMGSim instantly calculates process changes, intelligently propagates information, and continually monitors degrees of freedom when you modify any unit operation parameter or process condition. This allows you to try many different equipment configurations within your virtual plant and see the effects of changes to the system instantaneously and inexpensively.
