SRE’s extensive knowledge base makes us a trusted source in terms of identifying your processing requirements and restrictions, if any. Our expert consultation offerings focus on, but are not limited to, the following:

  • SRU Capacity and De-bottlenecking Studies for future upgrades or retrofit planning in advance of scheduled turnarounds

  • Complete in-house SRU Engineering Design services

  • Design review in conjunction with best practices

  • SRU and Amine Unit performance predictions with modelling

  • Post-Construction Management involving pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up services

  • Performance Guarantee Verification to validate your investment

Technology Selection

More than twenty years of “hands-on” experience has allowed SRE to become familiar with all commercially available sulfur recovery and tail gas treating technologies. We will work with you to assess the best fit for your application that addresses CAPEX, OPEX, and environmental regulations.

Increased overall sulfur recovery usually equates to increased CAPEX.

Dynamic Simulation as a Design Tool

Steady state process simulation is used to determine the correct sizing of all pieces of equipment in the SRU, and – after this initial sizing – optimization using dynamic modeling in VMGDynamics™ can help to uncover efficiencies that will lead to significant reductions in CAPEX.

Detailed Stream Analysis Provides Accurate Basis for Design

Process plant design should always be based on real data.  Before moving forward with a design based on incorrect feed gas compositional data, SRE highly recommends that our clients obtain a detailed analysis of the feed stock to be processed.  Retrofits after the design stage can be very expensive and/or impossible to correct without another large input of capital.

Detailed stream analysis gives you an accurate basis of design.  This is particularly useful if there are traces of ammonia, hydrogen or sulfur compounds within the stream.  Such compounds can lead to equipment malfunction, corrosion and failure and even extremely dangerous situations such as an explosion.

With projects costing in the millions of dollars, it just makes sense to spend a small fraction of that amount to determine exactly what compounds are really in your process, enabling you to create an accurate heat and material balance and an accurate design.
